The Justice Project

What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

I can believe in a cause or that God will do something about a hard situation, but am I willing to get my own hands dirty in the situation?

There are incredibly simple practical ways we can alter our lifestyles to help alleviate hunger, poverty, and disease in our own communities and far away. Are we willing to do something about it, or do we just want to “raise awareness”?

Feel free to disagree. Do you think raising awareness is just a cop out?

  Big Effects In Small Places.

The Justice Project Recently gave away almost 70 appliances of all kinds; Refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves, washers, & dryers. Both needy families in Reid Park & the needy among the churches that serve with the Justice Project were beneficiaries of this act of radical generosity, which was made possible by those who donate to The Justice Project. "Thank You" to everyone involved from donation to administration to delivery. You guys rock!

Author & social justice activist Shane Claiborne, part of the Simple Way faith community, & author of The Irresistible Revolution,  will speak at 7:00pm Sunday, October 4, at Meyers Park United Methodist. The event will also feature music & a local social justice missions fair. The Justice Project will have an info, resource, & sign up table at this event.

Praying Down The Stats Campaign

THE MISSION : 

IMMERSE EVERY BLOCK OF REID PARK IN PRAYER TO 

EASE BURDENS & IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ITS RESIDENTS

THE METHOD

Everybody individually adopts one block in Reid Park & commits to pray at least 5 minutes a day for these 5 things:

1. Lower Crime Stats

2.Lower Teen Pregnancy Rates

3. Lower Drug Usage & School Dropout Rates 

4. Increase Positive Educational Stats

5. God-encounters For Residents
